Perks upon perks, as Representative Deborah Ross points out. Massages, gourmet meals, preferential treatment. The justice system goes out of its way for those who know too much.

And then there are the others. The powerful men whose names appear in the documents, but never in the dock. “You redacted the names of the powerful and exposed those of the victims,” thundered Lou Correa. Justice turned on its head.

There are moments when silence speaks louder than words. Pam Bondi’s silence is one of them.

When the Attorney General Becomes Trump’s Lawyer

Rather than defending the victims, Bondi spent her hearing praising Trump. She talked about the stock market, the president’s “great achievements”—everything except the broken women sitting behind her. “I am deeply sorry for what any victim has been through,” she said, without ever looking at them. Empty words, stripped of meaning by her refusal to face them.

“You’re running a massive Epstein cover-up right out of the Department of Justice,” accused Jamie Raskin. It’s hard to disagree with him. When you refuse to release millions of documents on the pretext that they are “duplicate,” yet expose the victims to public condemnation, the conclusion is clear: you’re hiding something.

Denial as a Strategy

When asked about the links between Trump and Epstein, Bondi sidesteps the issue. She talks about legacy, “fake news,” and a conspiracy against the president. Anything but the truth. “You haven’t held a single man accountable,” Ted Lieu pointed out. And that is precisely the problem.

Their Struggle, Their Loneliness

Seated in the stands, the survivors raised their hands one by one. None of them had been invited to meet Bondi. None of them had been listened to. “We’re treated as if we don’t exist,” says Liz Stein. Yet they are there. 1,000 women, according to estimates. 1,000 shattered lives. 1,000 reasons to take action.

But in Trump’s America, there’s no place for victims—except when they’re used as pawns. “They are trying to deflect from all the great things Donald Trump has done,” Bondi dared to say. As if the stock market could erase years of rape.

Bondi spent her hearing sowing discord. Accusing Democrats of “Trump derangement syndrome,” attacking the media, downplaying the suffering. Anything but answering questions. “This is so ridiculous,” she snapped, as if the quest for justice were a whim.

But the survivors won’t give up. “We’re still here,” Marina Lacerda reminded everyone. And their determination is frightening. Because it threatens to tear down the masks.

When Information Becomes a Weapon

The media played a key role in exposing the Epstein scandal. But today, they’re hitting a wall: the Trump administration controls the information. Documents are being censored. Witnesses are being silenced. Journalists are being harassed. “We’re being prevented from doing our jobs,” says a reporter for the Miami Herald.

Yet the truth always comes out in the end. And when it does, names will be revealed—those of the accomplices, those of the protectors, and those who chose silence over justice.

Even within the Republican Party, criticism is mounting. Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky, accused Bondi of suffering from “Trump derangement syndrome.” Others, like Matt Gaetz, remain silent. Loyalty to Trump takes precedence over the truth.

But for how long? “At some point, you have to choose a side,” says an elected official speaking on condition of anonymity. The side of justice. Or the side of lies.
